Have you ever wanted to play in a band? Well now you can! We are a friendly and welcoming collective of young musicians; singers, guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and drummmers. If you are in Y7 or above, and have already started learning your instrument, then Band Skills is a great way to learn everything you need to be in a band.
Our experienced tutors, Emma, Tariq and Logan, will help you to build in confidence, get to know your instrument better, learn how to rehearse together, and learn a song from scratch. We'll also introduce some basic technical skills to help you navigate your way around a rehearsal space.
The programme is designed to culminate in musicians beginning to form their own bands, and work more independently. This is where the next group comes in; Band Factory.
What to expect at your first rehearsal
If you think it might help, please share the Young Person’s Rehearsal Timeline with your young musician. This will give them an idea of what to expect when they arrive, the rehearsal and what to do at the end. Hopefully it will help calm some nerves :)
Fees: Membership for our groups is TOTALLY FREE if you are in receipt of free school meals or fit our bursary criteria. We don’t want cost to be an issue, the friends of Sheffield Music Hub support with bursaries, please email musichubprojects@sheffield.gov.uk if you need help with the cost of fees, whatever your circumstances.
