Conor Morton (Guitar)

Hi, I’m Conor. By day, I teach guitar, bass, and ukulele across schools in the city. But on monday nights? That’s when our Band Skills and Guitar Group kicks in at Red Tape Studios—where we jam, learn, and have a great time!

My time at Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College Of Music) was a game-changer. Studying Music Production felt like getting the keys to a whole new world of music-making. Apart from teaching music I’m also part of a band called The Underground Sound Society, consisting of myself, my brother and a childhood friend. We also rope extra musicians in from time to time. My role in the band consists of singing, playing bass and programming synthesizers. We’ve been played on BBC Introducing a few times and have recently been added to a number of retailers playlists. I’m passionate about Sheffield being a great musical city and I hope to contribute in as many ways as possible!

Quick Fire Questions

  • Favourite song/piece of music: It is impossible to name just one piece of music, so instead I’ll name a few artists I’ve recently been listening to. Leisure, Raye, Jungle, Giveon, Anderson .Paak, Jordan Rakei.
  • Favourite thing to do outside of work: Making and performing music of course! But other than that I love training Muay Thai or attempting to learn Spanish.
  • Favourite food: Fajitas or Burritos tend to be my staple. It’s dangerous that the Music Hub office is very close to a great burrito place.
  • Favourite place in Sheffield: It would probably have to be Sidney & Matilda, another place just a stone's throw away from the Music Hub office. I've been spending a lot of time there recently, both performing and as an audience member at their many great gigs.
