Emma Smith (Keyboard/Piano)
I started learning violin and piano as a child, and really loved playing in the youth orchestras in my home city of Birmingham, especially playing at the Albert Hall for Music For Youth!
I moved to Sheffield in 1996 in order to complete my degree in Music. I started playing keyboard and violin in local rock and folk bands and also discovered Percussion through an African drumming workshop. I started performing regularly, also leading drumming workshops for community and corporate events.
In 2008 I completed a Music PGCE at Huddersfield University and have taught classroom Music in schools.
I am passionate about all kinds of music-making!
- Favourite song/piece of music - Black Gold Of the Sun
- Favourite thing to do outside of work - Wild camping
- Favourite food - Chargrilled aubergine
- Favourite place in Sheffield - Agden Reservoir
- One thing about me that would surprise you to know - This summer, I've really enjoyed growing cucumbers
