Learn to Play Guitar!
For complete beginners who want to learn the basics of playing the guitar.

We are a new guitar group and we work through the basics of learning to play the guitar! Our group is a great opportunity to meet and play with like-minded Primary school aged musicians while making musical progress in a fun and welcoming environment!
We cover the basics of learning music dots (notation), note names on the guitar, writing guitar music down using numbers (tablature), improvising, composing and performing as part of a group. We also provide support through music books and online digital resources so that you can continue your learning at home.
We will be looking to play for a Red Tape Central audience by the end of autumn term. If the children are practicing a little bit every day (as they should!) we will aim to play at a larger venue in the spring.
You will need to bring a guitar with you to this group, preferably a ¾ size nylon acoustic guitar. Please get in touch with the director at benjamin.bartholomew@sheffield.gov.uk if you need guidance on obtaining a guitar.
Once you have got to grips with the guitar you'll be able to progress to Beginner Guitar Club.

To join this group sign up online at least 24 hours before the first attended rehearsal.
Please note we only accept new members into this group in the first half of every term (e.g. September to October, January to February, April to May).
