Rosie McConaghie (Strings)

My name is Rosie and I teach violin.

I grew up in Suffolk but moved to Sheffield many years ago after studying violin at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.  I love teaching a mixture of individual lessons and Whole Class violins as well as directing the Sheffield Senior Strings ensemble and helping out with Senior Orchestra. I also perform regularly in Orchestras and a string trio and have been on tour with the likes of The War or The Worlds, Il Divo and Smokey Robinson as well as playing in many shows at the Crucible and Lyceum in Sheffield.

  • Favourite song/piece of music- I have to have 2! One way or another - Blondie and the Mendelssohn String Octet
  • Favourite thing to do outside of work- I really enjoy paddling boarding, outdoor swimming and spending time in the peaks with my family.
  • Favourite food- Dim Sum
  • Favourite place in Sheffield- Redmires Resevoir
  • One thing about me that would surprise you to know- I have two Guinea Pigs called Buddy and Marshmallow who technically belong to my son Alfie but they’re mine really!
