Rachel Greene (Woodwind)

Hi! I’m Rachel and I am a flute teacher. I started to have lessons when I was 8 years old, having been trying to play my mum's flute since I was about 2! I grew up in Sheffield and was a member of the Music Services flute groups and the Senior Orchestra, as well as being a member of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra. I studied Music at the University of Hull before coming back to Sheffield to work for the Music Hub. I have been working here for over 10 years and during that time, I have been lucky enough to teach in schools all over the city! I love teaching people to play the flute and helping them discover their musical voice. I also direct the Senior Flute group and assist with our Senior Orchestra. I strongly believe in inclusion, and spend 2 days a week managing our Connect programme which we run in partnership with the charity Young Sounds UK. The programme aims to break down the barriers in accessing music lessons to ensure that every child in Sheffield, no matter their background, can receive a quality music education.

  • Favourite food - Sunday roast
  • Favourite place in Sheffield - Longshaw estate
  • Surprising fact - I love watching cricket!
