How to Join
Both the Music Hub and the Friends & Volunteers charity are growing, with new and creative ideas being at the forefront. We would love you to join us on this journey. Your involvement can be as much or as little as you wish.
Sheffield Music Hub relies on the dedicated assistance of a small group of volunteers to help with fundraising and strategic support. We now have an exciting opportunity for you to get involved and help us to continue to reach children and young people in all corners of the city.
This small group of volunteers raised a remarkable £22k last year supporting us during one of the largest financial crisis we have ever faced. This funding enabled us to enhance digital content for all our young musicians and support those who needed our help the most with bursaries for pupils on our Furthering Talent / Musical Stars programme.

Small things that can make a difference
- Contribute fundraising ideas by emailing smhfriendsandvolunteers@gmail.com
- Blog or tweet about events
- Organise refreshments at events (a free ticket is included every time you volunteer)
- Help at concert rehearsals and the concerts itself (a free ticket is included every time you volunteer)
- Help to manage our Musical Stars Patrons Scheme
- Attend a committee meeting.
We have an opportunity for you to join our Friends as a Trustee and help us continue to reach children and young people across Sheffield, particularly those who facing barriers to music making.
We are particularly seeking additional Trustees for the Charity to help with:
- Formal fundraising (with support from Music Hub Staff)
- Informal events
- Social Media marketing
Ideally, we would like up to 4 new trustees to help with this vital work. If you feel your child has benefitted from our support over the last 18 months now is the time to help us move forward!
There is some time commitment required to be able to contribute effectively to the team. This is definitely a role in which you’ll need to roll up your sleeves and get involved!
If you are interested in joining the fundraising volunteers, please contact us.
If you are not able to help with your time, please do consider a donation towards our ongoing Musical Stars campaign here
To volunteer at rehearsals or concerts please contact Rory Evans.
All volunteers are DBS checked which the Music Hub will arrange for you. For more information on their safeguarding, click here.
