Welcome – We are Sheffield Music Hub from the United Kingdom!
Bonjour and thank you for joining us. We are delighted to be performing for you here in France and sharing our music with you.
We are proud to be touring with two of our youth groups: the City of Sheffield Youth Festival Band and Concordia Voices. Together, these ensembles bring 52 young performers aged 13 to 19, supported by a team of seven staff. Our musicians come from schools all across Sheffield and rehearse weekly before performing in concerts throughout the year.
During our tour in France, we are excited to have three performances in Bayeux, Arromanches and St Aubin Sur Mer. Alongside this, we are looking forward to visiting some of Normandy’s most well known historic sites.
Festival Band
The City of Sheffield Youth Festival Band is the senior ensemble of Sheffield Music Hub and has a strong history of international touring, including visits to Paris in 2014 and Leipzig in 2018. The band has received national awards and has also featured on British national television during the World’s Senior Snooker Championships, proudly held in Sheffield, the home of snooker.
For this tour, the band will perform a varied programme, including music from Band of Brothers by Michael Kamen, film scores by John Williams, and a selection of traditional marches and concert pieces. The band is directed by Liam Power, supported by Iain Teather, Amy Kershaw, Gillian Hume and Julie Justice.
Concordia Voices
Concordia Voices is an advanced youth choir founded in 2024 and directed by Emma Ward. This tour marks their first international performance. The choir is accompanied by pianist Tom Bates. Recent performances include a community opera, The Monster in the Maze at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
All performances will feature a Grand Finale, with all the performers joining together for "I Dreamed a Dream" from 'Les Miserables' and "When You Believe" from 'The Prince of Egypt.'
