We're Searching for Sheffield's best young singers!
Do you want the chance to perform a solo at our Spring Gala Concert?
We’re on the lookout for talented young vocalists who are ready to step onto a professional stage and perform in front of full audience and sing alongside a full choir and 250-piece massed orchestra (Y6+).
Previous soloists at this event have progressed into successful careers in the music industry including Precious Pepala
Soloists will step alongside the combined forces of the Sheffield Youth Choirs to sing solo lines in the following numbers:
- Running up that hill
- One day like this
- Hey Jude
Our Spring Gala Concert – on Sunday the 19th of April 2026 is our flagship event of the year. It brings together hundreds of young musicians from across the city for an evening of stunning live music at the Octagon Centre. With more than 1,500 seats, with a huge massed finale of over 300 performers, it’s one of the biggest youth music events in Sheffield.
If you’re ambitious, confident, and ready for an exciting performance opportunity, this could be your moment.
Stage 1 – Submit a video audition
Interested singers are asked to submit a video excerpt of one (or more) of the songs. The deadline for this is Sunday 22nd February.
Vocalists must sing along to one of the backing tracks provided – each section is an excerpt of a solo section that will be performed in the event.
ALL BACKING TRACKS AND SHEET MUSIC CAN ARE AVAILABLE HERE: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JJT7ih6HnSkZ51QbCd2SJIVeWaptys4i?usp=drive_link
You can choose to submit one or more of the excerpts.
VIDEOS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO KELLY DWYER – MUSIC HUB PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR – VIA WHATTS APP 07896807708 (This is a Sheffield City Council issued encrypted mobile phone) – PLEASE INCLUDE the NAME, AGE and SCHOOL of the person auditioning and a contact email for a parent / carer. Videos must be submitted from the device of a parent / carer and not directly from a young person.
Please see our privacy statement Privacy Statement | Sheffield Music Hub and note that we will delete the video once it has been reviewed by the audition panel.
Stage 2 – In person auditions
We may arrange in person auditions – in this instance they will happen in the week following the submission deadline. All applicants will be informed in the week after the submission deadline
Stage 3 – Rehearsals
