Eleanor Jarvis (Voice)

Hello! My name is Eleanor, and I am a singing teacher and the director for Youth Voices here at the Music Hub.

I grew up in Manchester and have been singing since the age of 10 when I joined my local choir. This choir made me who I am today and is responsible for starting my love of choral music and singing. I have a strong passion for providing music education to young people, helping them to discover this joy of music which creates lasting experiences, memories, and friendships.

I went on to study music at university and specialised in conducting and voice. I am now based in Sheffield and work as a freelance musician, spending my time singing, conducting, and teaching! I am the Director of Music of the Steel City Choristers and teacher of Vocal Studies at Sheffield College. I also regularly travel back to Manchester to lead choirs and teach singing and conducting there too!

In my spare time you can find me playing the piano or organ, singing in various choirs, or sat in a coffee shop! I also enjoy swimming, eating nice food and spending time with friends.

Some things about me…

Favourite song/piece of music: I think I probably have a new favourite song every week! At the moment I really love ‘And the Swallow’ by Caroline Shaw. I’m also a big ABBA, Queen and Elton John fan.

Favourite thing to do outside of work: Drink coffee and eat cake!

Favourite food: Pesto pasta with veggies.

Favourite place in Sheffield: Ladybower Reservoir and Upper Derwent Valley.

One thing about me that would surprise you to know: I am ambidextrous!
