Ani Hurford (Voice)

Hi, I’m Ani! I teach singing in both private lessons and as part of whole class teaching. I’m also lucky enough to direct one of the Junior Voices choirs at the Music Hub!

Growing up in Sheffield, I was lucky enough to be part of many choirs, singing projects, and bands during my time at school as well as performing in multiple shows. I moved to York as an adult, where I worked as a freelance musician, teaching singing to both adults and young people as well as playing piano for various choirs, solo performers, and playing in the pit orchestra for shows. I’ve also played Alto Sax in a couple of York based bands, even playing on the radio a few times! Since returning to Sheffield, I’ve started my own adult choir called Kitchen Sink Singers who sing a little bit of everything, including the kitchen… you get the idea!!

I’ve taught singing in lots of different contexts and a lots of different levels, teaching students classical, musical theatre, pop, as well as indie and metal singing! I enjoy teaching and singing all kinds of music and try to tailor my teaching to the kind of singing that students want to do, no matter what the style is!
