Kingswood Residential 2019 - Dates for your Diary

Our intermediate music groups took off on an adventure weekend to Kingswood at the end of January. We all had a fabulous weekend of team work, rehearsals, activities and experiencing a new independent life – the students even learnt how to make their own beds! We spent half of the weekend on activities from Kingswood such as Crate Stack, Problem Solving, Campfire and Low Ropes where we got to know the other members of the group outside of a rehearsal room.

The remainder of the time was spent rehearsing in our individual groups and even more excitingly, alongside graduates from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music. They helped us to compose a completely new and unique piece by experimenting with words, rhythms, notes and chords. It was an amazing experience to see our students using their imaginations to create something in such a short amount of time. Their pieces have been named, and will be performed at the Gala Concert on Sunday 18 March for their UK debut!

This residential will be going ahead again next year for all of the intermediate groups, this includes Youth Wind Band, Youth Jazz Collective, Intermediate Flutes, Alley Kittens and Sheffield Young Sinfonia from Friday 25th January to Sunday 27th January 2019, please put the date in your diaries so you don’t miss out!
