Brass Extravaganza 2025

Published on 12/05/2025

Last Tuesday, St Mark’s Church in Broomhill came alive with the sound of brass as families gathered for a truly special evening celebrating the musical journeys of young brass musicians – from their first notes in primary school to advanced university performances and professional careers.

Hosted by Sheffield Music Hub, the concert brought together a wide range of performers, including talented pupils from Arbourthorne Community Primary School and High Green Primary School, Firth Park Community Brass Band, the University of Sheffield’s Brass Band, and a brilliant 10-piece professional brass ensemble. Each group took to the stage to share their part in a musical story that highlighted the progression and possibilities of brass playing across all ages.

The event was not only a celebration of musical excellence but also a powerful example of how music can connect communities and inspire future generations. A big thank you goes out to all who took part and supported the event – especially the young musicians, their families and teachers.
