Joseph Samaniego (Drums)

Hey there! I'm a freelance musician, living in Sheffield, specialising in drums and percussion.

I enjoy connecting with other players and especially love helping others develop new skills and watch new musicians discover their own abilities whilst exploring new hobbies or passions.

I always try to keep lessons fun and student-led. If you want to learn a certain song, prepare for exams or just learn some stick tricks to show your friends, then I'll make it my mission to make sure you attain your goals, and have fun doing it!

Being born and raised in Sheffield I definitely feel close to the city and want to bring the best out of it and its young musicians.

The education I received here has prepared me to do some wonderful things as a musician such as playing many theatres around the UK and traveling the world as a drummer on a cruise ship, as well as joining a circus for a tour.

I still find time to play gigs while I'm teaching for The Music Hub, mostly weddings and parties around the Yorkshire area. But my favourite gig to play is an annual residency playing in pantomimes every Christmas time, I love it!

Some things about me

  • Favourite song/artist: My favourite song is probably 'Let Down' by 'Radiohead' and my favourite piece will always be Prokofiev's 'Peter & The Wolf', though it always terrified me as a child.
  • Hobby outside of work: Outside of work I love to read books, play video games or play board games with mates. I'm also a very keen baker.
  • Favourite food: Red velvet cake, no contest.
  • Favourite place in Sheffield: Oooo, the view of the city from Bole Hills Park is very nostalgic for me, I definitely feel at my calmest there.
  • Surprising fact: I can tie my shoe in less than a second (on a good day)
