Ben Playford (Piano)
Hi there, I’m Ben, one of the piano and keyboard tutors at Sheffield Music Hub. I have been teaching piano and guitar since 2010 and playing in all sorts of bands and ensembles since 2003.
I have a MA in Music Performance from Salford University and a PGCE from Staffordshire University. As well teaching the classical approach of note reading I also strongly value the learning of songs and accompaniment skills. My biggest musical passion is for improvising and I love getting the opportunity to teach improvisation skills.
I lead a jazz and blues trio/quartet which plays regularly across the country at private and public events.
Some things about me...
- Favourite song/piece of music – Difficult question! Just transcribed Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford which I love!
- Favourite thing to do outside of work – Play a board game with friends or family
- Favourite food – Ramen Noodles
- Favourite place in Sheffield – Loxley Common
- One thing about me that would surprise you to know – I like country music.
