Hannah Platt (Brass and Piano)
Hi! I’m Hannah and I teach Brass and Piano for Sheffield Music Hub. I specialise in Lower Brass, in particular Baritone, Euphonium and Trombone.
Originally from Hampshire, I started my musical journey in Hampshire County Youth brass band with Jock McKenzie, playing solo euphonium for a number of years. This sparked my passion for playing and following this, I gained a place at the Royal Northern College of Music where I studied my undergraduate degree, and following this, my PGCE. During this time, I was fortunate to play for many top-class brass bands, including Leyland, Rothwell and Grimethorpe Colliery, where I spent 3 years.
I currently play for Carlton Main Frickley Colliery on Solo Baritone, and have had some amazing musical opportunities, including playing at the British Open contest and National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall several times.
As well as teaching for the hub, I teach a Year 4 class part time, which I love!
I live in Rivelin valley with my cat and partner, who is also a music teacher- our house is very noisy most of the time!
Some more things about me:
- Favourite song/piece of music: So tricky to choose! Anything by Fleetwood Mac, or John Mayer.
- Favourite thing to do outside of work: Lifting heavy weights at the gym, running and camping in the Lakes.
- Favourite food: Pasta or a home cooked roast dinner.
- Favourite place in Sheffield: Rivelin valley.
- One thing about me that would surprise you to know: I’m a qualified L2 Gym instructor and currently studying to become a Personal Trainer.
