Sheffield Schoolchildren Celebrate Tramlines Festival 2026 with "Gary" by Blossoms
We're excited to share a special citywide music project celebrating Tramlines Festival 2026.
In partnership with Children's University, pupils from 11 primary schools across Sheffield have come together to perform "Gary" by Blossoms, creating a multi-screen music video that showcases the creativity, enthusiasm and talent of young people from across the city.
The project builds on the success of last year's collaboration, which saw hundreds of children perform "Proud" by Heather Small. Following the fantastic response from schools, families and the wider community, we're delighted to continue the tradition with another musical celebration inspired by Sheffield's vibrant music scene and one of the city's most-loved festivals.
Written by Tom Ogden, Gary was inspired by the real-life story of an 8-foot fibreglass gorilla that was stolen from a Scottish garden centre in 2023. The song has since become a favourite with Blossoms fans.
This exciting project has given young people the opportunity to come together through music, recording performances that have been combined into a collaborative multi-screen music video. It celebrates not only Tramlines Festival, but also the creativity, confidence and musical talent of children across Sheffield.
A huge thank you to Blossoms for kindly granting permission for their song to be used in this project, Children's University for partnering with us, and Stream7 for their excellent work editing and producing the final video.
