We have been shortlisted for two national awards this week!
This week we are celebrating being shortlisted for two National Awards.
Ian Naylor, Head of Music Education, will be travelling to London with Music Leaders Andy Harris and Heather Burge later this week to attend the awards Ceremony at the Annual Music and Drama Awards. Huge thanks to Warwick Music / P Bone music for providing the funding to allow the team to attend!
Andy has been shortlisted for the Instrumental teacher of the year award for his ground breaking work establishing an award winning community brass band in Firth Park in Sheffield.
Heather, in collaboration with the Sheffield Virtual School, has been leading on a transformational programme of musical activity for looked after children in Sheffield. This deep collaboration works alongside social workers, music teachers, carers, partners and schools to carve out musical opportunities for care experienced young people. This critical inclusion work has transformed how we think about all of our work with vulnerable young people and this has been recognised by the shortlisting for the Rocksteady Award for Progressive and Inclusive Music Education.
Huge congratulations to the team for being shortlisted and fingers crossed!
