Spotlight on our rap tutor Jay Clique: Inspiring the Next Generation

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on our rap and music production tutor, Jonathan Clarke, known professionally as Jay Clique. Jay has been part of the Sheffield Music Hub team for over two years, working across multiple secondary schools in the city to inspire and support young rappers.

Through his engaging and creative sessions, Jay provides young people with a space to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a wide range of musical skills. From writing lyrics and producing beats to recording and performing live, his students grow into rappers, singers, and producers—often all in one.

Jay’s work is a vital part of our commitment to inclusive and diverse music education, and we’re incredibly grateful for the energy and passion he brings to his work.

One of the highlights from last year was seeing Jay and his students perform alongside Ed Sheeran during Ed’s visit to Sheffield Music Hub.
